Introducing TRUF 2.0: A New Chapter in Decentralized Data

Blazing fast consensus and bold economics open the gates for permissionless participation.

TRUF V2 Migration Complete

On Monday, July 28th 2025, TRUF.NETWORK successfully completed a month-long process culminating in the full migration of all critical ecosystem nodes to the new TRUFV2 network. Coinciding with the completion of the migration, TRUFV1 has now been fully deprecated. There are no remaining TRUF.NETWORK critical infrastructure nodes still operational on TRUFV1. Existing TRUFV1 node operators will no longer receive any new blocks nor transactions and should migrate their node infrastructure to TRUFV2 immediately.

TRUFV1 began as primarily a means of providing robust, distributed infrastructure for use by Truflation. As the application scope of TRUF.NETWORK grew to encompass support for ecosystem partners Index.fun and NUON, it became clear that the network could be of greater overall benefit to the Web3 industry in general. TRUFV2 brings a new architecture, economic model, and performance enhancements to the battle-tested distributed SQL ledger used as the foundation for TRUFV1.

TRUFV2 uses a new consensus algorithm called Roadrunner. The Roadrunner consensus algorithm is a proprietary consensus mechanism created by Kwil. Drawing inspiration from established consensus protocols such as Two-Phase Commit (2PC), RAFT, and Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT), the Roadrunner algorithm is specifically tailored for database systems. It is engineered to enhance throughput and minimize latency, making it highly efficient for database operations.

Consensus Algorithm Flow

TRUFV2 implements an economic model based around the TRUF token, allowing data providers and validators alike to monetize their network activity. The model allows nodes to connect to the network in a permissionless manner, something that was not available to node operators in TRUFV1. Full implementation of the economic model and deployment of TRUF token to the network is slated for September.

TRUF Network Economic Model

TRUFV2 features several major performance enhancements:

  • Built-in caching functionality, improving the response time of queries by orders of magnitude, and a
  • Database schema reconfiguration reducing disk usage by up to 95% on the most used database tables.

These improvements make TRUFV2 appropriate for deployment in enterprise settings where high-frequency data retrieval requires speed and efficiency.
