Weekend Spotlight: TRUF.NATIVES & TRUF.SEEKERS

Every weekend, we’re pulling back the curtain on the people who make TRUF.NETWORK possible. Today’s TRUF NATIVE: Jarryd.

TRUF.NATIVES

Day 20 of 100 days of TRUF

Every weekend, we’re pulling back the curtain on the people who make TRUF.NETWORK possible — not just what they do, but why they’re here.

Each interview introduces two sides of the same person:

  • As a TRUF.NATIVE, they’re part of the team building trust into the fabric of the internet — engineers, designers, operators, and strategists working together to rethink how truth flows online.
  • As a TRUF.SEEKER, they represent the mindset shared by many of our clients and community: people who are done relying on outdated, manipulated, or unverifiable data. They’ve chosen a path toward transparency, resilience, and truth — whether in how they invest, build, or simply navigate the digital world.

This series is about the humans behind the mission — and the mission that resonates far beyond just us.

Jarryd Pretorius

As a TRUF.NATIVE

  1. What’s your job ?
    Technology & innovation.

  2. What’s your favourite part of the job or project that you are working on?
I love building the products of tomorrow - especially in crypto, where things move fast and there’s always something new to learn. It’s exciting to work on ideas that could actually change how people use money, connect, and build online.

  3. How long have you been working with the team?
Almost 3 years, since July 2022.

  4. Why did you join?
I joined because I wanted to be part of something early, ambitious, and meaningful. Web3 felt like one of the few places where you can help shape the future. The mix of technology, open systems, and global impact really drew me in - it just made sense to be here.

  5. If you were creating an index on index.fun to trade on, what would you build?
The “IYKYK” Index Theme: Early-stage gems with cult followings.
    What’s inside:

    • Under-the-radar L1s, governance tokens, or pre-token ecosystems

    • Farcaster-native projects, “still on testnet” favourites

Why: For the degens who like to be first — and sometimes right.

As a TRUF.SEEKER

  1. How long have you been in crypto?
Since 2014, when I first started trying to mine BTC with a friend; gave up on it in the end, which I regret now hahah.

  2. Do you invest in crypto?
Nope, I only invest in projects I believe in and I like to spend my time building, so I am fully invested in $TRUF.

  3. What’s your favourite token (other than the $TRUF token obviously!)
I love BTC as a benchmark to see how everything else is performing, also, you can’t beat bitcoins origin story.

  4. What’s your hot take on the future of crypto in 1 sentence?
Web2 and Web3 should stay distinct but interlearn—Web2 brings scale and usability, Web3 brings ownership and decentralization; their cross-pollination won’t merge them, but will elevate the best of both into smarter, more resilient products.

  5. What’s one Web2 thing you’d never bring into Web3?
Opaque data silos controlled by centralized platforms. Think corporate APIs, monetized without transparency.

  6. What do you think is the biggest thing that would help the adoption of crypto?
Better product integration within the web2 space, allowing smoother transitions for retail users who don’t fully understand the technology but want to get the benefits.

Stay tuned, more to come!
